SLIDE-IN CAMPER REMOVAL SERVICE

Truck campers are dead weight without the right truck — and getting one off a truck bed (or off the ground) requires equipment most removal companies simply don’t have. We do.

Slide-in truck campers occupy a unique and often overlooked corner of the RV world. They’re compact, self-contained living units designed to slide into and be mounted on the bed of a pickup truck. When they’re functional and properly mounted, they’re a practical camping solution. But when the truck they were designed for is gone, when the camper sustains damage, or when it simply becomes too old and deteriorated to use, the removal challenge becomes very real. Without the right truck, the right hitch, and the right lifting equipment, a truck camper becomes an immovable object.

The most common scenario we encounter is a slide-in camper sitting on the ground — either on its corner jacks, on improvised blocks, or partially collapsed — without a compatible truck to remount it. Once a truck camper is off the vehicle, it’s essentially a freestanding structure. Moving it requires either a compatible pickup truck with the right bed length and payload capacity, or — more commonly — a crane, forklift, or mechanical loader capable of lifting the unit cleanly. RV Removal Experts maintains relationships with crane operators and carries compact forklifts for exactly these situations.

Slide-in campers that are still mounted in a truck bed present a different challenge. If the truck is damaged, inoperable, or if the camper is seized to the bed via corroded tie-downs, extraction becomes a technical operation. Our crews are trained in safe camper extraction techniques, including corroded tie-down removal, camper body protection, and minimizing stress on the camper’s structural corners during the lift process.

Weight is another important variable. Slide-in campers range from ultralight aluminum units under 1,000 lbs to heavily built hardside models with slide-outs exceeding 5,000 lbs. Our lifting equipment is rated and tested across this full range. We’ll assess your specific unit during the quote phase and deploy accordingly.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW

Slide-in campers improperly balanced on corner jacks can tip without warning. Do not attempt to move, reposition, or crawl under a truck camper that is unsupported or on deteriorating jack stands. The center of gravity in a top-heavy camper can shift unexpectedly with any movement.

HOW THE REMOVAL PROCESS WORKS

From first call to cleared property — here’s what to expect.

Describe the Camper & Current Situation

Tell us: is the camper in a truck bed or on the ground? If in a truck, is the truck operable? What are the approximate weight and dimensions? Are there overhead obstructions (garage, carport, trees)? This determines which equipment we deploy.

Technical Assessment & Quote

Slide-in camper removals often require a more detailed assessment than other RV types. We may ask for specific photos of the mounting configuration, the surrounding access area, and the camper's current support. Our quote covers all labor, lifting, and transport.

Specialized Crew Dispatch

We select a crew with the appropriate lifting equipment for your specific situation. Ground-level lifts, in-bed extractions, and crane-assisted removals each have different crew requirements. We match the team to the job.

Lift, Load & Transfer

Our crew executes the extraction safely and efficiently. Documentation of any pre-existing truck bed damage is noted. Title transfer paperwork is completed, and the camper is transported to its final destination. Clean and professional.

WE ACCEPT ALL CONDITIONS

Don’t fix it. Don’t clean it. Don’t move it. We take it as-is.

Corroded or seized tie-downs
Water damage and interior rot
Slide-out failures or stuck mechanisms
Heavy or oversized units
Still mounted in a truck bed
Structural damage or frame cracks
Missing or salvage documentation
Roof or shell damage
Tight overhead clearance situations

WHY CHOOSE RV REMOVAL EXPERTS

Not all removal companies are the same. Here’s what sets us apart.

Crane & Forklift Equipped

We own and operate lifting equipment specifically for ground-level truck camper extraction. No rental delays, no outsourced operators.

Truck Bed Protection

We document pre-existing conditions and use protective equipment during extraction to avoid damage to the truck bed when campers are removed in-bed.

Efficient Operations

Our crane-assisted removals are surprisingly fast. Most truck camper extractions are complete within 1–2 hours of arrival.

Technical Extraction Expertis

In-bed extractions, corroded bracket removal, awkward overhead clearance — our crews are trained for the unique challenges of truck campers.

Documentation Specialists

Slide-in camper titling varies by state — some require no title, others treat them as RVs. We handle whatever documentation applies to your state.

Fair Valuation

Truck campers in good condition retain value. We evaluate yours honestly and will pay cash for qualifying units rather than charge for removal.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Answers to the most common questions we hear.

We use a combination of compact forklifts, spreader bars, and lift straps to get under the camper frame and raise it safely onto our transport trailer. The process is well-established and doesn’t damage the camper’s structure when done correctly.

Yes. We can extract the camper from the truck bed without moving the truck in most cases. We’ll assess the tie-down configuration in advance and bring the appropriate extraction tools.

Our compact lifts can operate in tighter clearances than standard forklifts. However, we do need a minimum of about 8 feet of overhead clearance for most lifts. If you have a carport or garage situation, describe it during the quote phase and we’ll determine feasibility.

It may affect the width and transport method, but it doesn’t prevent removal. Extended slide-outs are secured and protected during transport. We’ve moved many campers with stuck slide-outs.

No — titling requirements for truck campers vary widely by state. Many states don’t require a title for slide-in campers under a certain weight. We’ll determine what documentation is required for your state during the quote process.

Depending on dimensions, we may be able to work inside a barn or similar structure with the right equipment. Share the clearance dimensions and access details during the quote process and we’ll give you an honest answer.
